A Guide's Guide: Working in Historic Houses in the 21st Century

From pouring champagne and leading guided tours to catching escapee sheep and finding buckets for water leaks… working in heritage means there’s never a dull moment! With over 10 years of experience working in historic houses, it is my pleasure to share the fascinating history and intriguing day to day stories of iconic houses including Highclere Castle, also known as Downton Abbey, as well as Shaw House in Newbury.
I began my role at Shaw House in 2019 and have since written the first guide book and introduced audio guides, as well as running the largest events including the Summer Fair and a costume exhibition. In addition to my role, I present illustrated talks and have been a guest on podcasts such as Talking Tudors and The Tudor Travel Guide.
